Just say you're a new player and that you're looking for "orb of regret" and usually other players are happy to give you some.įollowing a popular build is the safer approach, though it can also be less fun if you're the type of person who likes to learn organically. But, it's always an option to ask other people for help in fixing your character. Making your own builds has a much higher chance of "bricking" your character, by which I mean you'll get to the point where your build doesn't have enough offense/defense for the current monsters you're facing, and you also won't have enough currency to respec your skill tree. It depends on how resilient you are to failure and how much enjoyment you're getting out of experimentation. But again, if you're cool with not destroying the endgame, go nuts, every skill can probably beat the campaign. I think they're good to look at even if you don't follow them, just to see how they scale and what makes them tick. Some people don't want to or can't learn everything needed to put together a strong offensive and defensive character, and build guides let them have fun anyway. If getting to some earlier point is still fun, go for it.īuild guides are useful because they spec out builds that do work, for sure, when they come from reputable sources. Sometimes it'll be because the build is just bad, sometimes it's because the way to make the build stronger is something you don't know about, and sometimes the build just caps out before the uber pinnacle stuff. It's absolutely possible to play through the game with whatever you want, but you need to be prepared to hit walls.
The highest end of the game's content is balanced around those meta builds, but there's still a lot you can do with off-meta builds.
The top end of the power curve is basically builds that abuse whatever method is the most broken in a given league.
This game has a million ways to add power to a character, some are straightforward and some are esoteric and weird.
